Graduation

Graduation, is it the end of the journey or the beginning of another new journey?

It would be a brand new starting point for me. I'm now working on my MSc research in Civil Engineering focused on offshore structure. A lot of people out there asked me why am i further my study? I have been offered a job with quite nice pay, they so wondering about it.

Everyone has their own dream, for me i would prefer to join the academic line instead of actual field work. Well, to achieve it, I have to have a higher degree. This would be the main reason for me further my study.

How bout you? What dreams you have? Lets share it with me..

The journey to Hong Kong & Macao

Guess this would be the beginning of my dream, to travel around the world annually. To be a traveler is always much more interesting as compared to be a tourist. Exposure for sure is greater as compared to tour arrangement.

Now, let’s start the journey.

Flight AK56 to Macao, which as usual, flight delayed. Already 3pm when we reached Macao, with the cheapest way, by bus we went to the ferry terminal to transfer to Hong Kong. That was not our day, ferry was broke down for around half and hour and the weather was bad. When we reached Hong Kong it’s already 6pm. It should be low season when we went there. Who knows, jewelry exhibition!!! Hotels, motels, guess house all full house and we didn’t booked room in advance. Luckily, the boss of the hostel we planned to stay helped us to look for a room And. It’s a bit over budget, but we had no choice. Dinner, fish ball noodles. Tasted normal for me, not much special. After dinner, we walked around Mongkok. These were the supper we took. Yummy!!

Day 2

It’s a great day. It started with a bowl of porridge, with 炸两肠粉。 Wow!! This is highly recommended. The炸两肠粉 really great, you could not find it at Malaysia.

This was in the magical train to the magical land, Disney.

It takes around 30mins, from Mongkok to Disney. Wow... This is the entrance!!

That was a hot day; remember to put sun block when you guys want to go there. First of all, get a map when you entered. Browse through; see what you guys interested first. You can actually bring along your drinking water and food if you want. You can refill your water, where they provided drinking water around the park. Whilst for food, the food in the park is really not that tasty and it’s a bit expensive.

It was a memorable moment in Disney. Shows, especially the lion king and the parade could not be missed. 8pm, the fireworks as a closing for the magical trip in Disney.

Day 3

It was an exhausting day at Disney, the next day we slept till 12pm. It was a shock when we woke up. This was all because of the room we stayed was room without windows, and it is tightly closed, we didn’t even know as the sun rose. This could not happen if you follow the tour group.

We took our brunch at 茶餐室. Wow… what a large plat of pork chop rice. The amount could be taken by two people here. Unbelievable!!

Madame Tussauds wax museum was our next station. As usual, MTR was the transport we took. Followed by the peak tram that operated for 100years… This is it!! It was a bit scary; the railway was built on a very steep slope. And it stopped on the way going up. Anyway, the view on the way up to the peak was very nice. There’s another way of going to the peak, by bus.

After took photos with the wax models. We walked around the peak tower. By coincidence, we found the taste of our childhood, the ice-cream mochi. We simply took something we bought at the supermarket as our lunch. Where by we first planned to take McD, but the restaurant was full.

Next, we get back to Kowloon for the Symphony of Light by star ferry. Followed by the 星光大道,and dinner at Mongkok. As the night was still young, we walked around 女人街,and some other street around that area. Hong Kong is a 不夜城, still 人山人海 at the midnight, but we decided to get more rest. See!! This was taken when I cross the road during midnight. They don’t have to sleep?

Day 4

A set breakfast at茶餐室 started the journey of the day. Never ever go the theme park during weekend. From the journey up to the moment to get lunch at McD you have to queue up…显啊!!

Ocean Park, this is the only place I don’t recommend you guys go, especially during the weekend. It is better you enjoy the aquarium over here. There is nothing much different; the only special was the available of panda… like this one!!

The show, unbearable!! Could not even compare to the Disney shows. May be the dolphin show was special if you never watched any of it somewhere else. Shark, jelly fish, marine life… all could be seen here. So if you’re not an animal lover you don’t have to be at Ocean Park.

Next, we went to central to take tram. We took almost all kind of public transport, except taxi. MTR at Hong Kong could reach all the tourism point; you don’t even have to take taxi. After dinner, another walk walks night. Staying at Mongkok was the great choice, we don’t have to rush. If you want to get cheap and nice trendy cloths, don’t miss out 旺角中心。 I bought some blouse; cost me only RM 8 each. Of course you have to bargain with them. There’s another shopping point for skin care, SASA. There’s variety brand of skin care products for your choice, mask there was extremely cheap. Be careful with the expired day for the promotion items, I found some of it getting expired soon. Try the food stall by roadside, very local taste… Nice!!

Day 5

Yea!!! It’s shopping day…

After brunch, we went to central, the landmark. I eager so much for a LV handbag, before the trip, so LV is the “must” for me to shop. We started with a CD shop, which I bought a “Chinese opera” CD for my mum. Next, of course was LV, but I didn’t get any of it. L If you want to get branded stuff at HK, it is highly recommended. Same price as M’sia, but different currency, it could be half or more cheaper.

It’s really unbelievable… 宾宾wear esprit and also Mango!!!

Day 6, 7, 8

After breakfast, we transferred to Macao. Checked in to the pre-booked “hotel”, which 王家卫’s 2046 shoot. May be the bed I slept, was slept by Tony Leung… he he… this is the “hotel”.

No air conditioner, sharing bathroom, but located at the center of happening as well. There’s a lot of nice local food around here. And you can walk to the casinos for about 15mins.

Macao is different with Hong Kong. This is a historical place, where you can see old buildings all around.

The famous 大三巴牌坊,炮台 ,葡京, 新福隆街(where we stayed)。。。

The Macao tower is kind of like KL tower, where you can have a look of Macao at the highest point of Macao. Like this…

Next, Venetian resort is a must when you stay at Macao. Coincidently, when I was there, Guess handbags storewide 50% off; of course get one for myself.

Let’s see how it looked. Very romantic at there…

Before get back, of course need to get some souvenir. Macao’s famous almond cookies and other snacks...

Owh… the food that must be taken at Macao, 猪扒包,双皮奶,葡塔, and 碗仔翅, 萝卜糕(新福隆街 got a lot of tasty and local food. Just spend some times to walk around, you’ll found the specialty there)。。。The rest depends on you, we preferred hawker food. We looked for food wherever, whenever we’re hungry…

Another tip for transportation at Macao, there’s shuttle buses of the casinos. If you don’t feel hesitate, you can actually get the shuttle bus to take you to the place you want (of course applicable to the routes they available).

Count down for Olympic 2008…

That’s the end of the journey, so anything else you would like to know, please contact us…Happy day!!
